Morehead Pride, Inc.

Morehead Pride provides social and educational support to members of the LGBTQ* community in Eastern Kentucky through services and activities that promote social involvement and unity. Programming includes the Morehead Pride Festival, queer art workshops, Mr. and Miss Morehead Pride Pageant, an annual Spring benefit concert, LGBTQ theatre productions, and a diversity and inclusion speaking series. Morehead Pride provides  scholarship opportunities to first year LGBTQ* students attending educational institutions within Eastern Kentucky through our annual education award.

Morehead Pride Festival

The Morehead Pride Festival is our largest event of the year and provides a safe, inclusive space for the local LGBTQ community to connect with vendors and nonprofits who provide supportive services and products in Eastern Kentucky. This year’s festival has been expanded to include a week’s worth of events including:

  • Aids Memorial Quilt Exhibit – Oct. 2 to 8 in the Athena Room, Camdem-Carroll Library during regular business hours.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Forum – Oct. 6 in the Athena Room, Camdem-Carroll Library  |  Featuring guest speakers Ryan Sallans, Mark Johnson and Jon Parker
  • The 2017 Morehead Pride Festival – Oct. 7, East First Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m  |  Live music, drag shows, vendors, food, activities and craft beer from West Sixth Brewing. Performers:  Daphne Willis, Sam Tolson, The Woodsheep, Louisville Gay Men’s Chorus, The Tealights, Cadillac Seville, Miss Morehead Pride Georgia Peach, Mr. Morehead Pride Cody St. James, Petty Poussey, Shady Dior, Adonis, and Kendryck Heart.
  • Morehead Pride Afterparty – Oct. 7 after the festival at Club 169/Roadrunners Lounge, from 8 p.m. to midnight. Drag, dancing and cash bar. Hosted by Cadillac Seville and DJ Gregor.
  • Pride Youth Afterparty – Oct. 7 after the festival at the Boone Youth Drop-In Center from 8 to 10 p.m. Drag, dancing and light refreshments.
